Lawler Consulting is a boutique forensic accounting firm. David Lawler established Lawler Consulting during lockdown in 2020, realising that it was possible to do world-class work without the overheads, conflicts, and junior staff learning at the client’s expense that are associated with the international firms.

Our Experience | David Lawler

He is frequently retained as an advisor and expert and has given expert accounting evidence to courts and tribunals on some of the highest profile disputes of recent years. He retired in December 2020 as Managing Director at Kroll.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Certified Fraud Examiner, Member of the Academy of Experts, Certified Bitcoin Professional and a qualified commercial mediator.

Our Approach

We offer world-class accounting expertise in a personal setting.

We believe in authenticity, in clear language, in listening to our clients, yet telling it like it is. We have no work generation targets, and so only do assignments in which we believe, and where we can really add value and succeed.

We work with lawyers, but we are not (and don’t try to be) lawyers.

We realise that there is value in being niche practitioners…

Frequently Asked Questions

David Lawler has given expert evidence in arbitrations and litigation many times. He is often instructed to  assess quantum  in breach of contract cases and shareholder disputes.  Many of these companies are facing financial problems, and often there is explicit or implicit allegations of fraud or wrongdoing.  He has been instructed by corporates facing allegations of white collar crime, and has acted on several of the top-20 FCPA resolutions.

Like most firms, our charges are based on an hourly or daily rate, but we frequently work on fixed budgets for some or all elements of an assignment, once we have an understanding of what it is likely to involve. We stick to these budgets.  Because we have limited overheads,  our costs are typically 30% less than the major firms.

Of course.  All our material is bespoke to the particular matter. Please get in touch and tell us a little more about it.

London is our base, although we spend most of our time in places other than London – sometimes on assignments at client premises, and sometimes in our offices at home.  We can meet at short notice in London, and in most other places across the world given a few days’ notice.

Our Partners

Where appropriate, we work by partnering with the people who come to us – sometimes for the long term, sometimes for a shorter time.

As well as working throughout Europe and the US, in the last five years our team members have carried out assignments in China, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Mauritius, Russia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Ghana, Gabon, Nigeria, Angola, South Africa, BVI, Argentina, Brazil, and Australia. We have a network throughout the world.
